Albertville High School Student Faces Serious Charges for Stolen Gun Incident
An 11th grader at Albertville High School, 16-year-old Djovani Jean Pierre, also known as Geo, is facing multiple charges after allegedly bringing a stolen gun to school. The Marshall County District Attorney’s Office has charged him as an adult, with potential penalties including up to life in prison if convicted.
The incident unfolded early Monday morning when a robbery occurred in Arab around 1:15 AM, which authorities linked to Pierre. He left campus after 9 AM and did not return until just before football practice at 2:50 PM. Upon his return, school coaches notified a resource officer, who confronted Pierre about his backpack. Police Chief JT Cartee stated that during the confrontation, police used a taser on Pierre, leading to the discovery of the stolen firearm.
District Attorney Jennifer Bray praised the swift action of local police and school officials, emphasizing that their training helped neutralize a potentially dangerous situation. Pierre is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, possession of a weapon as a minor, and resisting arrest. His robbery charge is classified as a class A felony, leading to a warrant without bond.
Albertville City Schools Superintendent Bart Reeves highlighted that school safety is a communal obligation, urging parents to discuss the seriousness of threats with their children. As the investigation continues, authorities anticipate further arrests related to the robbery. Pierre will be transferred from juvenile to adult custody, and the school has permanently banned him from campus.
