2026 Tuscaloosa WR Named UA Next Camp Series MVP on Sunday
On March 30th, rising star Ho’okena Rego from Tuscaloosa Academy shone at Under Armour’s Next Camp Series in Nashville, TN, where he was named one of the camp’s MVPs. The 6’0″, 165-pound wide receiver had an impressive junior season, leading Alabama in receiving yards with 1,587 across 79 receptions and scoring 14 touchdowns. Rego formed a formidable duo with Tuscaloosa Academy’s former quarterback, Preston Lancaster, guiding the Knights to the AHSAA 2A State championship game, despite their loss to Reeltown.
Rego’s speed and skills were further showcased at the Polynesian Bowl in Las Vegas, where he dominated the competition. Managed by Raising Champions, the training organization associated with Tua Tagovailoa’s family, Rego’s potential is being closely monitored. Following his standout performance, he visited Samford, marking the fourth school he has toured, including Arkansas State, West Alabama, and Western Georgia. Currently, he holds a single Division I offer from Arkansas State, which he received on January 16.
Ranked as a 3-star recruit by 247 Sports, Rego is positioned as the No. 190 wide receiver prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 54 overall player from Alabama. With his recent accolades, expectations are high for Rego to rise in recruiting rankings and attract more interest from larger college programs if he continues his successful trajectory.
