Alabama high school band no longer performing at Presidential Inauguration due to weather
Albertville High School Aggie Band Faces Inaugural Setback
The Albertville High School Aggie Marching Band, invited to perform at the 60th Presidential Inauguration, has faced an unexpected setback due to severe weather conditions. Superintendent Dr. Bart Reeves announced that the band, along with other high school groups, will be unable to participate in the outdoor inaugural parade, as it has been relocated indoors to the Capitol Rotunda due to below-freezing temperatures in Washington, D.C.
In a statement released late Friday, Dr. Reeves expressed his disappointment, noting the news came just a day before departure for the event: “It is with regret that I share the unfortunate news… The Aggie Band, as well as the other high school bands invited, will not have the opportunity to perform in the inaugural parade as originally planned.”
Despite the cancellation, the Albertville school system remains committed to showcasing the band’s talents. The band will still make the trip to D.C., and plans are in motion to secure alternative performance venues, ensuring the students receive the recognition they deserve.
“This decision has been tough, but in the spirit of resilience that defines our community, we are hopeful for a memorable experience for our students,” Dr. Reeves added. The restructured inauguration will take place indoors, with the parade relocated to the Capitol One Arena, marking a historic alteration in the event’s format. The school system promises updates as plans evolve for the band’s performance opportunities.
