This May, aspiring filmmakers have a unique opportunity to launch their careers through a series of job fairs, workshops, and events hosted by Create Birmingham.
Production Assistant Workshop on May 6 is the first highlight. Taking place at Events at Haven in Lakeview, this workshop will be led by 1st Assistant Director Maggie Ballard. Participants will gain vital insights into the role of a production assistant, learning the essential skills needed to thrive in the high-paced film and television industry.
Later in the month, the Film Industry Job Fair on May 20 at Cahaba Brewing will offer a bustling space for job seekers and interns to connect with local companies and producers. Organizations such as Dotdash Meredith and 1504 will be present, creating a platform for networking within The Magic City’s vibrant filmmaking community. This free event not only provides access to job opportunities but also fosters connections with fellow filmmakers.
