Ole Miss Softball Begins Road Swing at Rocket City Softball Showcase
The Ole Miss Rebels softball team kicks off a pivotal road trip at the inaugural Rocket City Softball Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama, with four scheduled games. The Rebels (8-3, 0-0 SEC) start against the unbeaten North Alabama Lions (9-0, 0-0 ASUN) on Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT, followed by a clash with Miami (3-7, 0-0 MAC) on Saturday and two games against James Madison (0-5, 0-0 Sun Belt) and Louisiana Tech (5-5, 0-0 CUSA) on Sunday.
Leading the Rebels are remarkable newcomers, including freshman pitcher Miali Guachino, who has set records with her performance, including a 19-strikeout game. She currently leads the SEC and ranks second nationally with 58 strikeouts. Another standout, Persy Llamas, has been consistent with 12 RBIs and a strong on-base streak.
Head coach Jamie Trachsel, supported by a new coaching staff rich in experience, aims to capitalize on the Rebels’ momentum. The coaching team includes former Missouri head coach Ehren Earleywine and NCAA champion Nancy Evans, who enhances the pitching dynamics.
The Rebels are gearing up to establish themselves further as they prepare to return home for nine consecutive games at the new Ole Miss Softball Stadium. As they face formidable opponents this weekend, both the team’s promising talent and coaching strategy suggest a bright season ahead. For live updates and streaming, fans can tune into FloCollege.
