Huntsville Police are investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Monday, which resulted in a fatal shooting that authorities believe may have been accidental. The shooting took place in the 100 block of Jefferson Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. Police responded to the scene where they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a red sedan parked in a lot. Despite immediate medical attention at Huntsville Hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
At the time of the incident, a woman and two children were also present in the vehicle, but fortunately, they were unharmed. Law enforcement officials took them in for questioning as part of their ongoing investigation. According to a press release from the City of Huntsville, crime scene investigators recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
