Jaylen Alexander and Torry Brown Recognized for Outstanding Basketball Seasons in Calhoun County
The East Alabama Sports Today has honored Oxford’s Jaylen Alexander as the boys’ Class 4A-6A All-Calhoun County player of the year. Alexander showcased his basketball prowess this season, averaging 18.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.8 rebounds, leading Oxford to a successful 24-7 record and both Calhoun County and area titles. His standout performance included a critical 3-pointer against Gadsden City in the Class 6A Northeast Regional final.
Anniston’s Torry Brown received the title of coach of the year after steering the Bulldogs to a remarkable 22-5 season, culminating in an area championship and a run to the Central Regional final. Despite losing six seniors and starting the following season with no accumulated points or rebounds, Brown’s team displayed resilience and skill throughout the year.
The All-Calhoun County first team features standout players such as Marcus Perry Jr., Jayden Lewis, Quendavion McDowell, and Caleb Ackles, while the second team includes talents like Kyree Lewis and Jaylen Henderson. Aaron Nixon and Kamouri Harmon lead the third team, with honorable mentions from various local schools.
This recognition underscores the depth of talent and coaching excellence present in the Calhoun County basketball scene, celebrating both individual achievements and team successes.
