Oxford, AL to Host “Heroes on Main” Veterans Celebration on May 31, 2025
The City of Oxford, in collaboration with Historic Main Street Oxford, is set to honor local military service with the “Heroes on Main: Oxford’s Hometown Veterans Celebration” on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place in Simmons Park, located in historic downtown Oxford.
This poignant celebration will feature the unveiling of 44 tribute banners, commemorating the service of Oxford’s veterans. These banners will be displayed along Choccolocco Street and Main Street from Memorial Day through Veterans Day, serving as a visible tribute to the sacrifices made by local service members.
Notable speakers at the ceremony include Cindy Lett Williams, President of the Oxford Arts Council; Hunter Gentry, Director of Historic Main Street Oxford; and Mayor Alton Craft of the City of Oxford. Following the formal proceedings, the community will enjoy a live performance by Alabama Rain featuring Ryan Robertson in Simmons Park.
Guests are encouraged to remain after the ceremony to explore the unique shops of downtown Oxford and savor lunch at one of the local restaurants. This event not only celebrates veterans but also fosters community unity, bringing together friends, family, and neighbors in appreciation of their hometown heroes.
