Oxford Kicks Off Festival of Lights at Choccolocco Park with Special Preview Event
Oxford, AL: 2024 Festival of Lights Unveiled
Mayor Alton Craft officially launched the 2024 Festival of Lights on November 20, with an exclusive preview for city employees prior to its public opening on November 22. This year’s festival is set to dazzle with nearly 2.5 million lights across 40 acres, aiming to be a standout event during the holiday season.
Special Events Coordinator Madison Gardner expressed gratitude to sponsors, particularly First Bank of Alabama, for their continued support over the past three years, which has helped the festival achieve record attendance. Gardner also credited the tireless efforts of various city departments and staff in making the event a success. Mayor Craft emphasized the collective work of city employees in creating a memorable celebration, leading a countdown to initiate the lighting ceremony.
Running through Christmas Eve, the festival includes a one-mile drive-through light show featuring new displays. Santa’s Village will offer festive activities, including weekend snowfalls, a redesigned Santa’s house, a photo backdrop, and seasonal delights like ice skating and walking tours.
The festival will be open nightly, with weekday hours from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and extended weekend hours until 10 p.m. Tickets are priced at $25 per carload on weekdays and $30 on weekends. With support from local businesses and community dedication, the Festival of Lights promises to be a cherished holiday tradition for Oxford and its visitors. As Mayor Craft remarked, the festival is about fostering family connections and creating lasting memories.
