Gadsden State Community College Celebrates Black History Month
GADSDEN, AL – In honor of Black History Month, Gadsden State Community College is hosting two significant events to celebrate heritage and excellence within the community.
The first event, a Black History Month Celebration, will take place on February 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. in the Science Building Auditorium at the East Broad Campus. Esteemed guest speaker Jerome McQueen, a professional engineer, will share valuable insights on leadership and excellence in engineering. This event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members, reinforcing Gadsden State’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
The celebration continues with the third annual Black History Month Program on February 26, 2025, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the Gadsden Job Corps Center Gymnasium on the Valley Street Campus. In partnership with the Gadsden Job Corps Center, this year’s program will feature Dr. Quentin J. Lee, Superintendent of Talladega City Schools, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Lee will discuss the National HBCU Week Conference Theme: “Raising the Bar: Where Excellence and Opportunity Meet,” and attendees can look forward to a lively performance by the Gadsden State Show Band.
Both events are free and encourage active participation from the college community and residents. For more details, visit gadsdenstate.edu.
