Atlanta Falcons Expand Girls’ Flag Football in Alabama
The Atlanta Falcons, in partnership with the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, are significantly promoting girls’ flag football in Alabama. Announcing grants to ten high schools across the state, this initiative aims to establish the sport for the upcoming season. The Falcons first introduced girls’ flag football to Alabama in 2021, and their efforts have led to impressive growth, with over 130 high schools now offering the sport as a varsity option.
The ten high schools receiving grants include Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery, American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa, Athens High School, Chickasaw High School, Elmore County High School, I3 Academy High School in Birmingham, Linden High School, Saraland High School, St. John Paul II High School in Huntsville, and Talladega High School.
To celebrate and further develop the sport, the Falcons will host a free girls’ flag football clinic on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Legio Field in Birmingham, the clinic will focus on essential skills, drills, and fundamentals.
This initiative reflects a growing commitment to inclusivity in sports, providing young women in Alabama with new opportunities to engage in athletics and showcasing the Falcons’ dedication to empowering the next generation of female athletes.
