Gadsden State Community College Announces Upcoming Ribbon Cuttings and Speaking Event – WEIS
Celebrating New Beginnings at Gadsden State Community College
Gadsden State Community College is marking significant milestones with two ribbon-cutting ceremonies and a special speaking engagement. The first event will celebrate the relocation and renovation of the One Stop Center at the Ayers Campus. Scheduled for April 28 at 10 a.m., the revamped Cheaha Center now houses both the One Stop Center and the Anniston Career Center. This facility offers enhanced services for students and visitors, including advising, admissions, and financial aid, all aimed at fostering educational and career opportunities.
Following this, on April 29, the college will unveil the newly renovated Black Box Theatre in Meadows-Inzer Hall on the Wallace Drive Campus. A welcome reception kicks off festivities at 5:30 p.m., leading to the ribbon cutting at 6 p.m., which will be followed by the annual State of the College address from President Dr. Kathy Murphy.
On April 30, Gadsden State will host Special Agent (Ret.) Craig Pruett, who will share his inspiring story at 4 p.m. in Helderman Hall. Pruett, a veteran of law enforcement, faced and overcame extreme health challenges after a lengthy battle with COVID-19. His journey of resilience and hope serves as a powerful reminder of strength in adversity. Gadsden State’s Chief of Police, Jay Freeman, emphasizes the importance of sharing such courageous narratives with the community. These events underscore the college’s commitment to enhancing student experiences and fostering a spirit of perseverance.
