Birmingham airport adds special flights for Alabama, Auburn football fans this season
Birmingham Airport Enhances Travel for College Football Fans
As college football season approaches, Birmingham, Alabama’s airport is gearing up to facilitate travel for fans of Alabama and Auburn. In response to increased demand, airlines are introducing special flights to major away game destinations for the 2025 season.
American Airlines is adding routes for both teams, including flights for Auburn’s matchups against Baylor in Waco on August 29 and Oklahoma in Oklahoma City on September 20. Fans of Alabama can look forward to flights for their games against Florida State in Tallahassee on August 30 and Missouri in Columbia on October 11. Southwest Airlines will also provide an additional flight to Dallas Love for Auburn’s game against Baylor.
Kim Hunt, a Birmingham Airport spokesperson, highlights the significance of these seasonal adjustments, noting that many of these cities typically lack direct service from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. "This shows how much airlines understand the importance of college football in Alabama," Hunt stated, emphasizing their commitment to connecting with the community.
In a reciprocal move, United Airlines is increasing flights to Birmingham for Alabama’s home games against Wisconsin, Tennessee, and LSU, while Delta Air Lines will support these matches as well. These enhancements are expected to improve access for both home and visiting fans, further enriching the game-day experience. Fans can explore the new routes and book tickets through their preferred airlines.
