Dwight and Sandy Sandlin Commit One Million Dollars to Bartow Arena Renovation Project
UAB Receives $1 Million Commitment for Bartow Arena Renovation
The UAB Department of Athletics has announced a significant $1 million donation from Dwight and Sandy Sandlin to fund the renovation of Bartow Arena. Dwight Sandlin, a UAB alumnus and co-founder of Signature Homes, expressed his pride in giving back to an institution that has played a vital role in his professional journey. Alongside his wife, Sandy, Sandlin aims to support UAB’s enrollment growth, crucial for the community and state, as UAB stands as Alabama’s largest single-site employer.
The renovation project, budgeted at $14.6 million, includes key upgrades such as an expanded entrance lobby, a club-level lounge, enhanced seating options, and improved concourse facilities. According to UAB Director of Athletics Mark Ingram, the Sandlins’ generous contribution aligns with the vision of transforming Bartow Arena into one of the premier venues in the country.
Pending fundraising goals and necessary approvals, ground-breaking for the renovations is expected after UAB’s Spring 2026 Commencement. The project aims to modernize the arena, enhancing its role as a hub for various athletic and community events. Information about further support opportunities will be available in the coming year. Interested parties can contact the Blazer Boosters office to contribute to the initiative.
