BIRMINGHAM, AL – The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation is delving into an officer-involved shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, October 4, around 3:40 a.m. The incident transpired in the 400 block of 2nd Avenue North. Reports indicate that an altercation ensued between two individuals, during which 51-year-old Quantez O. Johnson drew a firearm. In response, a Birmingham Police Department officer, who was working an off-duty security job, discharged his weapon, striking Johnson.
Fortunately, no other individuals, including the officer, sustained injuries during this encounter. Johnson was subsequently transported to UAB Hospital for medical treatment. As the investigation unfolds, the findings will be forwarded to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for further analysis.
