Alabama Volleyball Falls to 16th-Ranked Tennessee in Four Sets
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In a competitive matchup on Friday night, Alabama volleyball was defeated by 16th-ranked Tennessee in four sets at Foster Auditorium. The match saw set scores of 18-25, 20-25, 25-23, and 15-25.
Alabama (10-9, 2-7 SEC) initially held a slim lead in the first set, but Tennessee (15-3, 6-2 SEC) quickly turned the tide, scoring six consecutive points to secure a 25-18 win. The Lady Vols maintained their momentum into the second set, clinching it 25-20. The Crimson Tide fought back in the third, jumping to a 7-2 lead, bolstered by a key block from Sophie Agee and Lily Gervase. Despite facing pressure as Tennessee narrowed the gap multiple times, Alabama held on to take the set 25-23, driven by another block from Gervase and Kaleigh Palmer.
However, Tennessee started strong in the fourth set, establishing a six-point lead and ultimately finishing the match with a 25-15 victory. Notable performances included Hannah Parant, who recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 38 assists and 10 digs, and Kaleigh Palmer, who notched 12 kills, extending her streak to three consecutive matches with double-digit kills. Lily Gervase also matched her season-high in blocks for the second straight game.
The Alabama team will look to bounce back as they prepare to face off against third-ranked Kentucky on Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. CT.
