Veteran Class 7A head football coach announces retirement
Madison County Seeks New Head Football Coach After Kelvis White’s Retirement
Madison County’s Class 7A football program is on the lookout for a new head coach following the retirement of Kelvis White, who led the Bob Jones Patriots for six seasons. His tenure includes a 29-35 record and four playoff appearances, with the 2025 team concluding the season at 5-5. White’s coaching career spans 18 years across Alabama, including four seasons at Mae Jemison, where he achieved a 25-20 record and secured the program’s first playoff victory in 2017. He also coached at Dothan and has made a notable 12 playoff appearances throughout his career.
White expressed gratitude for his time with Madison City Schools and the support he received from the administration. His experience includes contributions to teams at Homewood, Russellville, and Birmingham-Southern, as well as a successful playing career at Alabama under Gene Stallings and Mike DuBose.
With White’s exit, Bob Jones joins Hazel Green in the search for a new head coach. Notably, Bob Jones has been a consistent playoff contender since 2005, although they haven’t secured a playoff win since 2013. The program now faces the challenge of finding a successor who can continue its legacy and reinvigorate its competitive edge in the upcoming seasons.
