Lee-Huntsville hires former Coosa Christian coach, Huntsville DC to lead football program
Lee-Huntsville Football Welcomes Nevandra Woods as New Head Coach
Lee-Huntsville High School in Madison County has appointed Nevandra Woods as its new head football coach, a decision approved by the Huntsville City Board of Education this Tuesday. Woods takes over from Antonio Ford, who recently accepted a position as defensive coordinator at Albertville after one season with the Generals.
Woods, who previously led Coosa Christian to three consecutive playoff appearances from 2016 to 2018, emphasized his goal of establishing a strong team culture. “I want us to be tough, physical, and disciplined,” he stated, highlighting his commitment to building belief and mindset within the program.
Before this appointment, Woods served as the defensive coordinator at Huntsville High, where the team ranked fifth in Class 7A by allowing an average of 17.2 points per game. His coaching resume also includes a stint at Gadsden City, where he worked as both special teams coordinator and linebackers coach. A graduate of Litchfield High and former player at Alabama A&M, Woods underscores the importance of preparation, asserting that success requires consistent effort throughout the week.
Lee-Huntsville has faced challenges in recent years, finishing 0-10 over the last two seasons, with its last playoff appearance in 2021. This hire marks a significant change, as it is the third head coach appointment in Madison County this offseason, with Hazel Green and Bob Jones also having made new hires. New Hope is seeking a new coach after Michael Harper’s recent departure.
