Activists to rally in Tuscaloosa, eight other Alabama cities – The Crimson White
Nationwide Protests: “Hands Off! Tuscaloosa” Rally Set to Mobilize Activists Against Trump
On Saturday, Third Act, a national activism organization, will host the “Hands Off! Tuscaloosa” rally from noon to 2 p.m. at the Richard Shelby Federal Building and Courthouse. This event is part of a larger statewide initiative dubbed “Alabama Fights Back!” and coincides with rallies taking place across the nation in response to President Donald Trump.
According to Third Act, the rally aims to send a powerful message against what they describe as the ongoing threat to democracy and the economy posed by Trump and his wealthy associates. “This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy,” the organization stated. Activists will engage in marches, rallies, and protests, urging for a collective opposition to what they consider the looting of the nation.
In total, Alabama will host 10 “Hands Off!” rallies on Saturday, with locations including Birmingham, Dadeville, Dothan, Evergreen, Florence, Huntsville, Mobile, Montgomery, Opelika, and Tuscaloosa. This grassroots effort is part of an impressive nationwide show of dissent, with around 1,000 rallies scheduled to occur simultaneously across the country.
Note: The planned start time for the Tuscaloosa protest was confirmed to begin at noon, correcting earlier reports.
