Alabama adds former Tennessee, App. State running back Khalifa Keith (Birmingham, AL) through transfer portal
Alabama Signs Khalifa Keith from Transfer Portal to Bolster Running Back Depth
In a strategic move, Alabama football has signed former Tennessee and Appalachian State running back Khalifa Keith, enhancing their offensive options. Keith’s transfer, which was confirmed on Saturday night, follows a short visit to Tuscaloosa that began earlier that day. The addition of Keith, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound Birmingham native, marks the Crimson Tide’s latest effort to enrich their roster as they prepare for the 2026 season.
Having recorded a modest 34 carries for 129 yards and one touchdown over three seasons, Keith brings valuable experience to a running back group that now totals six players. His background includes a solid performance in special teams during his freshman year at Tennessee, where he played in 12 games.
This signing comes after Alabama faced departures due to eligibility issues, including Jam Miller and Dre Washington, along with an anticipated transfer of Richard Young. With Keith joining Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley, and AK Dear in the backfield, alongside the promising five-star recruit Ezavier Crowell, Alabama is reinforcing a critical position on the field. Keith becomes the 19th addition from the transfer portal, which has included players from various programs, exemplifying the Crimson Tide’s commitment to maintaining a competitive edge in college football.
