Crimson Tide Softball Dominates Over Samford, Extends Winning Streak
In a decisive victory, the Alabama softball team triumphed over Samford, 9-2, at Samford Softball Field on Tuesday afternoon. The win marks Alabama’s tenth consecutive victory, improving their season record to 16-6. Both teams started strong, scoring two runs in the first inning. However, Alabama took control in the second, maintaining their lead for the remainder of the game.
Key performances included two hits each from Audrey Vandagriff, Abby Duchscherer, and Lauren Johnson, among other contributors. In a standout moment, Duchscherer and Kali Heivilin launched back-to-back home runs in the third inning, extending their reached-base streaks to 11 and 18 games, respectively. The Crimson Tide demonstrated their offensive strength, achieving double-digit hits for the tenth time this season and hitting two or more home runs for the eighth time.
In the circle, Jocelyn Briski secured the win, allowing only two hits in 5.1 innings of shutout relief. Notable moments included Johnson’s first career triple and Vandagriff’s two stolen bases, which bring her NCAA-leading total to 27.
Next, Alabama will participate in the Spring Break Showdown in Tuscaloosa, where they will face Louisiana and Iowa in a series of games starting Friday, March 7.
