Alabama Defeats UNA In Huntsville
In a thrilling finish on Tuesday evening, the 12th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team triumphed over the University of North Alabama (UNA) 4-3, thanks to a game-winning hit by standout Justin LeBron in the bottom of the ninth inning. The match, held at the Huntsville Trash Panda’s Toyota Field, drew over 5,900 fans as Alabama improved its season record to 23-3.
Starting pitcher Aeden Finateri set the tone for the Tide, pitching two scoreless innings before being relieved by Coulson Buchanan, who struck out five batters over two innings of work. Alabama’s offense found its rhythm in the fourth, with Garrett Staton’s two-run double giving them a brief 2-0 lead. After UNA tied the game in the sixth with a homer, Alabama regained control in the seventh with a run from Richie Bonomolo Jr.
Although Alabama led 3-2, UNA equalized in the eighth inning, setting the stage for a dramatic ninth. In the closing frame, LeBron, after battling through a full count, crushed a walk-off single, earning his 51st RBI of the season—leading the nation.
Despite a less-than-stellar offensive showing, with the Tide batting just 5 for 30, solid pitching led by freshman Jack Ketchum and closer Carson Ozmer secured the win. This victory snapped a two-game losing streak, preparing Alabama for a challenging weekend series against 9th-ranked Oklahoma.
