Alabama Women’s Basketball Triumphs Over Clemson in ACC/SEC Challenge
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women’s basketball team delivered a dominant performance against Clemson, securing a 72-48 victory in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday. This win marked Alabama’s 11th consecutive home victory and extended its non-conference win streak to 39 games.
Essence Cody led the Crimson Tide with 21 points while Jessica Timmons contributed 19, both marking their eighth game in double figures this season. Karly Weathers excelled in her role, finishing plus 23 with nine points, two assists, and five rebounds, showcasing the team’s overall efficiency. Alabama maintained control for most of the game, highlighted by a strong defensive effort that limited Clemson to just 32 percent shooting.
After a tight first half, Alabama established its dominance with a 15-0 scoring run in the third quarter, which helped to widen the gap to 24 points. The Tide’s strong execution on both ends of the floor, illustrated by just six turnovers and 15 assists, was pivotal.
Game highlights included Naomi Jones with a team-high seven rebounds and Ta’Mia Scott surpassing 500 career rebounds. The Crimson Tide shot 47 percent from the floor, compared to Clemson’s 32 percent. Alabama’s next challenge comes on Sunday when they host the ULM Warhawks at 4 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
