Hoover Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide of Local Couple
In a tragic incident, Hoover Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide following the discovery of a husband and wife found dead in their home on Tuesday morning. Authorities received a call at approximately 9:03 a.m. from a family member who found the couple unresponsive. Fire-Medics arrived at the scene and pronounced both deceased from gunshot wounds. A 3-year-old child was present in the home but was unharmed, prompting police to assure the public that there was no ongoing threat.
Among the deceased is Christina Chambers, a former sports reporter with strong ties to Alabama’s television and athletic communities. WBRC, the station where she worked from 2015 until July 2021, expressed profound sorrow over the loss, urging the public to keep Chambers’ family and the WBRC team in their thoughts during this difficult time.
Chambers significantly contributed to local sports coverage, including high school football, and maintained a freelance role during the recent football season. A native of Cullman, Alabama, Chambers was a Division I athlete at The University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also earned her journalism degree.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths.
