Alabama storms leave damage in Jackson County
Severe Weather Alert: Possible Tornado Strikes Jackson County, Alabama
On Saturday afternoon, storms swept through Alabama, leading to reports of a possible tornado touching down in Jackson County. The Jackson County Emergency Management Agency confirmed that damage occurred near the Rosalie Fire Department around 3:58 p.m., with eyewitness accounts indicating that the facility sustained significant harm; specifically, the roof of the ramp and a door were blown off.
Officials from the National Weather Service in Huntsville indicated that they could not yet confirm whether the damage was tornado-related. They projected that a definitive assessment might not be available until Monday. Interestingly, many locals noted that the area was not under a tornado warning at the time of the incident. However, the National Weather Service clarified that a thunderstorm warning was indeed in effect.
Meteorologist James Spann, using the platform X (formerly Twitter), reported that a tornado warning was issued for the area and parts of DeKalb County shortly after the damage was reported, at 4:15 p.m. He later indicated that the storm system had moved into northwest Georgia. As authorities continue to assess the aftermath and confirm the cause of the damage, local residents remain on alert for further weather developments.
