Tragic Event in Gadsden: Mother Charged with Capital Murder
GADSDEN, Ala. — In a harrowing case, 29-year-old Terica Pearl remains in jail without bond after facing capital murder charges for allegedly strangling her 21-month-old daughter, Blessence Pearl. Court documents reveal that Pearl used a thick robe string in the act, leaving the child’s body in a hearse outside the West Gadsden Funeral Home. The grim discovery was made by a groundskeeper on Saturday morning.
According to the funeral home’s manager, the hearse was parked unlocked the previous night, and Blessence was not there at that time. The child’s grandmother confirmed the identification of the victim, prompting an outpouring of sadness from the community. Local residents expressed their grief through prayer and song, highlighting the shared fear that such a tragedy could affect any family.
Both the Gadsden Police Department and West Gadsden Funeral Home are committed to obtaining justice for Blessence and are appealing to the public for any information related to the case. GPD Lieutenant Dusty Ford emphasized the need for community assistance in resolving the numerous questions surrounding this devastating incident: “There’s a lot of people looking for answers, and we want to be able to give those to them.”
As the investigation unfolds, the community continues to rally in support of the grieving family, reflecting on the profound impact of such a heartbreaking loss.
