Albertville Resident Arrested for Human Smuggling Involvement
Arely Guzman, a resident of Albertville, has been arrested by DeKalb County authorities for her alleged role in a criminal enterprise tied to human smuggling and other illegal activities. The arrest, reported by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Eagle Pass, occurred on December 20 following accusations that Guzman had doxxed an Immigration and Customs Enforcement employee during operations in the Kilpatrick and Albertville regions.
Guzman, formerly associated with the Albertville Chamber of Commerce, is implicated in the SANTOYO-Guzman criminal enterprise, with ties to known members Edgar Daniel Guzman and Alex Corona. Authorities identified her as an active participant in the organization since 2024, facing serious charges under Title 8 United States Code 1324 related to the conspiracy to transport illegal aliens.
Her alleged involvement includes facilitating human smuggling operations and contributing to the financial aspects of the organization, with a significant incident in June 2024 in Houston that led to violent acts, including aggravated assault and hostage-taking.
On May 22, 2025, DeKalb County investigators responded to a physical assault involving Guzman and Corona, linked to financial disputes, during which Guzman was found in possession of a firearm and narcotics. A search of her phone subsequently revealed extensive communications surrounding human smuggling activities. Guzman now faces multiple charges, highlighting the pervasive issues of organized crime within the community.
