‘Beloved’ sports reporter among two found dead as police investigate apparent murder-suicide
Former Alabama Sports Reporter Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide
A tragic incident unfolded in Hoover, Alabama, where former sports reporter Christina Chambers was found dead in what authorities believe to be a murder-suicide. At approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a family member discovered two unresponsive individuals in their home on Highland Manor Court. Both suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Chambers, who joined WBRC in 2015, quickly became a beloved member of the sports team, known for her warmth, quick wit, and passion for high school sports, as well as her support for the UAB Blazers. A mother to a 3-year-old son, the child was found unharmed in the home. Fellow WBRC reporter Jeh Jeh Pruitt expressed his grief, reminiscing about their recent encounter at a local event and describing Chambers as one of the sweetest, most loving individuals he had known.
Chambers was an integral part of WBRC’s high school football program “Sideline” and often contributed to the coverage of events like the Mercedes Marathon, even participating as a runner. Prior to her tenure at WBRC, she worked as a sports anchor in Montgomery and started her career in Columbus, Georgia. The news of her passing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving both families and peers in mourning.
