Weekend Events Showcase Community Engagement at Birmingham-Area Libraries

This weekend, Birmingham-area public libraries are set to host engaging family-friendly events aimed at fostering community connection and learning. Highlighting the contributions of public libraries, these events include a World War I food preservation presentation at the Birmingham Public Library, a Puzzle Swap at the Homewood Public Library, and a nonprofit volunteer fair at the Hoover Public Library.
The Birmingham Public Library will feature a talk by Dr. Martin T. Olliff from the Alabama Humanities Alliance, who will discuss food preservation initiatives in Alabama during World War I. This presentation is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 11 AM to noon.
On Sunday, March 8, from 3 to 5 PM, the Homewood Public Library invites residents to participate in a Puzzle Swap, where visitors can exchange puzzles or discover new challenges to enjoy.
Meanwhile, the Hoover Public Library will host its annual Kindness Summit on Monday, March 9, from 3 to 6:30 PM, connecting more than 25 local nonprofits with potential volunteers eager to make a difference.
