Tragic Death of Former WBRC Reporter Investigated as Murder-Suicide
In a heartbreaking incident, former WBRC sports reporter Christina Chambers was found dead alongside her husband in their Hoover, Alabama home on Tuesday morning. Hoover Police are treating the case as an “apparent murder-suicide,” after both were discovered with gunshot wounds. Disturbingly, a 3-year-old child was also found in the home unharmed.
According to WBRC, Christina and her husband were pronounced dead at the scene by medics. A family member reportedly stumbled upon the couple. Chambers, a dedicated journalist who joined WBRC in 2015, made a significant impact on the station’s sports programming, frequently anchoring the Sideline segment and covering events like the Mercedes Marathon, often while participating in the race herself. Although she stepped down from her full-time role in July 2021, she continued to freelance for WBRC, contributing to their sports coverage.
Alabama Senator Katie Britt expressed her condolences on social media, urging the community to keep Chambers’ friends and family in their thoughts during this difficult time. A native of Cullman, Chambers was a 38-year-old journalism graduate who left a lasting legacy in local sports reporting. The WBRC community is mourning the loss of not only a valued colleague but also a cherished friend. For more details and condolences, individuals can visit WBRC’s website.
