Doggypalooza: A Fun-Filled Event for a Good Cause
This Saturday, Hope Church of Albertville will host “Doggypalooza,” a free awareness event aimed at supporting Family Services of North Alabama. Executive Director Sherrie Hiett shared that the name change from “Doodlepalooza” to “Doggypalooza” was made to ensure inclusivity for all dog breeds, making it a celebration for every furry friend.
April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, making this event especially significant. “We want to provide a fun atmosphere where people can enjoy themselves while learning about our agency’s mission,” Hiett stated. Attendees can look forward to a range of activities, including a doggy Easter Egg Hunt, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and live music. Local vendors like A Little Something Extra Ice Cream Truck and Belen Mexican Tacos will also be available to offer delights for both humans and their pets.
The primary goal of Doggypalooza is to raise awareness about pressing issues like child abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking, while informing locals about the free services the agency provides to strengthen families and combat these issues. Hiett expressed hope for a large turnout, as increased attendance translates to greater community awareness.
Doggypalooza runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 1110 Walnut Street in Albertville. Mark your calendars for additional upcoming fundraisers, including the “Champions for Children” event and Taco Trot 5K on May 10.
