Events Shed ‘Light’ on UA Homecoming Week
University of Alabama Homecoming Week Festivities Set to Begin
The University of Alabama (UA) is gearing up for an exciting week of homecoming festivities, culminating in a much-anticipated football game against the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m. The celebrations will kick off with a homecoming parade featuring NASA astronaut and UA alum Bob Hines as the grand marshal. The parade is set to start at 10 a.m. in downtown Tuscaloosa, making its way through campus.
Themed “Lights! Crimson! Action!” the homecoming week offers a variety of activities for students and community members. One highlight is the “Paint the Town Red” competition, where local businesses and student organizations will be decked out in crimson decorations. Attendees can vote for their favorites via QR codes displayed at each site.
Throughout the week from Nov. 9 to Nov. 13, events will include a “Cash for Cans” fundraiser, a Roll Tide Run, a spades and lawn games tournament, and a choreography competition. Community engagement is further encouraged through a Day of Service at various local organizations.
As the week progresses, the excitement builds with a pep rally and homecoming queen crowning on Friday, Nov. 14, followed by a step show at Coleman Coliseum. Parking options will be available for attendees at various campus locations. For more information on events and ticketing, people are encouraged to visit the UA homecoming website.
