Adam Winegarden Returns to High School Coaching as Albertville’s New Football Head Coach
Adam Winegarden, a veteran high school football coach, is set to return to the sidelines this August as the new head coach for Albertville High School. Previously, Winegarden served as the Director of Leadership and High School Relations at Troy University for one year. With this new role, Albertville becomes the fifth Alabama high school he has coached, following his tenures at Tuscaloosa County High School (TCHS), Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa, Fairhope, and Auburn.
During his three seasons at TCHS, Winegarden led the Wildcats to a notable improvement, propelling the team from a 1-9 record in 2021 to 6-4 in 2022, achieving the school’s first winning season in nearly a decade. The team finished 5-5 in 2023 under his leadership. Winegarden’s coaching history includes significant successes, such as steering Auburn to the Class 7A State Championship game in 2020 and leading Fairhope to a remarkable 28-8 record over three years, including a standout perfect season in 2014. At Hillcrest, he achieved a commendable 21-3 record in two seasons.
Prior to his time in Alabama, Winegarden built his coaching skills in Georgia, advancing from quarterbacks coach to head coach at Dalton High School. His overall high school coaching record stands at an impressive 131-55. Winegarden’s return to high school football promises excitement for Albertville as the season kicks off later this month.
