Tragic Murder-Suicide Claims Life of Beloved Sportscaster Christina Chambers
HOOVER, Ala. — Christina Chambers, a former WBRC sports reporter and passionate advocate for youth sports, was identified as one of two individuals found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Hoover. Known for her warmth and infectious smile, Christina’s sudden death has left her colleagues, friends, and students in shock.
Hoover Police responded to a call early Tuesday morning after a family member discovered Christina and her husband unresponsive in their home. Both suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. Their three-year-old son was unharmed. Christina, who joined WBRC in 2015, quickly became a key figure in the station’s sports reporting, particularly seasonal coverage of high school sports and local marathons.
Before her tenure at WBRC, Christina worked at several regional outlets, including WAKA in Montgomery and Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta. She also made a significant impact as a broadcast journalism teacher at Thompson High School, where her students earned multiple accolades, including the Alabama Scholastic Press Association’s Advisor of the Year honor. Christina recently transitioned to a role at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama in corporate communications.
