Ole Miss Freshmen Set to Compete at Roberta Alison Fall Classic
TUSCALOOSA, AL – Ole Miss women’s tennis is showcasing two talented freshmen, Ichino Horikawa and Owen Wilkinson, at the upcoming Roberta Alison Fall Classic. This two-day tournament is hosted by the University of Alabama at the Alabama Tennis Center from October 31 to November 1, allowing both players to compete in singles and doubles.
Ichino Horikawa, hailing from Kyoto, Japan, has previously achieved a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 173 and holds a 21-18 singles record on the junior circuit. Her teammate, Owen Wilkinson, a local from Oxford, Mississippi, is recognized as the top recruit in her state for her class. Wilkinson boasts two consecutive MHSAA Class 6A state singles titles, won in 2022 and 2023.
The Rebels are adapting following the graduation of four seniors, but the remaining five players are committed to continuing with the team through the 2025-26 season. Emma Kette enters her fourth year, while Andrea Nova, with a standout 13 wins last spring, returns for her third. New additions also include Riley Crowder, another top recruit, who complements the team’s roster.
Following the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, Ole Miss has a busy fall schedule, including the ITA Sectionals and the Vanderbilt Invite. Fans can keep up with the latest updates on social media through various platforms like Twitter and Instagram.
