Emotional Vigil Held for Baby Blessence Pearl in Gadsden, Alabama
GADSDEN, Ala. — A heartfelt vigil took place Sunday night in Gadsden, mourning the tragic loss of 1-year-old Blessence Pearl, whose body was found in a hearse on Saturday morning. Dantez Robinson, the funeral director of West Gadsden Funeral Home, spoke at the gathering, emphasizing that “there is no hurt… that heaven isn’t able to heal.” The community came together to support Blessence’s grieving family during this incredibly difficult time.
An employee from the funeral home, who found the baby, shared his emotional distress, expressing that he couldn’t continue working after the discovery. “I’ve got four girls of my own; I know how it feels,” he stated, highlighting the personal impact the incident had on him. The funeral home announced that they would not charge the family for the funeral services, recognizing the family’s immense grief.
Robinson reflected on the community’s love and support, noting, “A lot of us didn’t know the baby, but it’s the heart of our people that love this innocent child.”
Gadsden Police made an arrest less than 12 hours after the discovery, although details surrounding the cause of Blessence’s death remain undisclosed. As the community rallies around the family, Robinson encouraged participants, saying, “Love is what love does,” reaffirming the importance of unity and support during such tragic times.
