Gadsden State Students Honored as All-Alabama Academic Team Members
GADSDEN, AL – Two exemplary students from Gadsden State Community College have been recognized for their significant academic and community service achievements. Collins Davis and Chase Lopas, both members of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, have been selected for the Phi Theta Kappa All-Alabama Academic Team.
This honor is reserved for students nominated by faculty and selected based on criteria including a minimum GPA of 3.25, completion of at least 12 credits at Gadsden State, and active involvement in campus activities. Each community college in Alabama may nominate two students, and both Davis and Lopas are awarded $1,000 for their accomplishments.
Davis, from Southside, is set to graduate with an associate degree in general studies this May. He expressed gratitude for his choice to attend Gadsden State, stating it has opened numerous doors for his future. His recognition as part of the All-Alabama Academic Team has made him feel accomplished and acknowledged for his hard work. Additionally, he is the president of the Rho Rho Chapter of PTK and recently earned honors as a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Bronze Scholar.
Lopas, originally from Gadsden and a GED recipient, found his passion for psychology after enrolling at Gadsden State. He has made significant strides as a tutor and was published in the Cardinal Arts Journal. He plans to pursue further studies at Webster University in the Netherlands, aiming for a career in psychological counseling.
