Giveaways and events for supplies and wrapping up summer break
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — As students prepare to return to school, numerous organizations in central Alabama are hosting back-to-school events to assist families in need. The R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Organization will kick off its 30th annual Back-to-School Rally on July 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at More Than Conquers Faith Church, featuring performances from local high school bands, free food, inflatables, and school supply giveaways.
Similarly, the Lane Harper Power of Life Foundation will hold a backpack giveaway in Fultondale on the same day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., promising music, food, and plenty of giveaways. In Heflin, the Rhema Christian Center’s SOZO Outreach will distribute free backpacks and supplies on July 19, along with free haircuts and family-friendly activities at Cleburne County High School.
In Bessemer, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity will host another give-away on July 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bessemer Recreation Center, offering supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. For those who miss July events, the Woodlawn Alumni Association will have its “Back 2 School Bash” on August 2, along with Jalon Moore’s “Block Party,” which includes various activities and free school supplies. These events aim to make the back-to-school transition easier, creating a supportive community environment for students of all ages.
