Huntsville Green Team hosting Earth Month events
Huntsville Green Team Promotes Environmental Awareness During Earth Month
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – In celebration of Earth Month, the Huntsville Green Team is actively engaging the community in efforts to protect and respect the environment. With Earth Day serving as a catalyst, the team emphasizes the need for year-round commitment to environmental stewardship.
Nikole Sothers from the Green Team highlights that while Earth Day garners attention globally, it is essential for individuals to adopt sustainable practices every day. This month, the team is hosting a series of events aimed at fostering community involvement and awareness.
On April 5th, a community cleanup will take place at the Richard Showers center, encouraging volunteers to help pick up litter and repaint fire hydrants in the area. Following this, on April 11th, residents can collect free tomatoes and cucumbers at John Hunt Park, promoting local gardening and sustainability. The month will culminate with an Earth Day celebration on April 12th at Hays Nature Preserve.
Sothers urges collective action, stating, “If you want to protect your planet, it’s going to take all of us.” This initiative not only encourages individual responsibility but also fosters teamwork in professional settings, bringing community members together for a common purpose. The Green Team’s events aim to inspire long-term changes in lifestyle for a healthier planet.
