Huntsville man dies from injuries weeks after September car crash
Tragic Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims Life in Huntsville
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Saturday, September 13, resulted in the death of 64-year-old Huntsville resident Walter Stephens III and left four others injured, as reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. The incident occurred around 8:58 p.m. on U.S. 72, near the 110-mile marker, approximately three miles northwest of Gurley.
According to authorities, Stephens was driving without his seatbelt when his car collided head-on with another vehicle, leading to a second head-on collision with yet another car. He was critically injured in the crash and was swiftly taken to Huntsville Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on October 2.
Involved in the crash were Jefford S. Wright, who suffered injuries and was also transported to Huntsville Hospital, and passenger Ashley S. Wright, 38, along with a 1-year-old child, both of whom required medical attention. Another driver was also among the injured and received care at Huntsville Hospital.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
