Juvenile In Custody After One Injured In Tuscaloosa Shooting
Shooting Incident in Tuscaloosa Leaves One Injured, Juvenile in Custody
TUSCALOOSA, AL — Early Sunday morning, a shooting at the intersection of 21st Street and Alston Avenue left one person seriously injured, prompting a swift response from local authorities. The victim, a woman, was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where she is now receiving treatment for serious injuries but is expected to survive.
According to police, the incident stemmed from an ongoing argument among a group of individuals that had persisted over several days. During the confrontation, one individual opened fire, resulting in the victim being struck. The Violent Crimes Unit quickly took over the investigation, interviewing over ten witnesses before identifying the suspect.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, recovering the firearm used in the shooting, which was confirmed to be stolen. The juvenile suspect now faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Although charged as an adult, Alabama law prohibits the release of the juvenile’s identifying information.
The suspect is currently held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond. This incident underscores the ongoing concerns about gun violence in the community. Police continue their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward. For news tips or sponsorship inquiries, contact Ryan Phillips at Tuscaloosa Patch.
