Luau 1M, 5K, 10K, 15K, & Half Marathon at James D. Martin Park, Gadsden, AL (19) 45 – The Anniston Star
The Luau 1M, 5K, 10K, 15K, and Half Marathon took place on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at James D. Martin Park in Gadsden, Alabama. Hosted by the US Road Running Club, this vibrant event attracted participants of all ages and skill levels, offering a range of distances to suit various runners.
The races commenced at 8:00 AM, with packet pickup available from 7:30 AM to 7:50 AM. All participants were required to register in advance through RunSignup, as on-site registration was not permitted. The courses, set on a pea gravel trail, featured multiple loops: the 1-mile course was an out-and-back, while the 5K, 10K, and 15K courses involved one, two, and three laps, respectively. The half marathon required runners to complete four laps. A time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes was enforced for all events.
Participants were encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by donning costumes, with a group photo taken at the start of each race. Awards were presented to the best costume in each category. All finishers received themed medals, commemorating their achievements. Additionally, the event contributed points toward the US Road Running Race Series, adding an extra layer of excitement for competitive runners.
The Luau event not only promoted physical fitness but also fostered community engagement, bringing together individuals from various backgrounds to celebrate health, wellness, and camaraderie in the heart of Gadsden.
