Police Arrest Suspect in Birmingham Shooting Case
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A shooting incident on Wednesday evening led to the death of 39-year-old Demetrice Darnell Beverly at the Lakeshore Ridge apartment complex in the Sand Ridge neighborhood. Officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 9 p.m., finding Beverly unresponsive in a bedroom, where he was pronounced dead at the scene. Beverly was a respected coach at A.H. Parker High School.
According to investigators, the tragic event unfolded when a woman in the apartment was confronted by 23-year-old De’Corlion Keshaun Robinson, who entered and shot Beverly before fleeing the scene. The woman promptly called for assistance and remained on-site until police arrived.
Robinson was apprehended soon after by officers in the parking lot of the complex. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bail, facing serious charges including murder and unlawful possession of a machine gun conversion device.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns about domestic violence and gun-related crime in the community. The investigation remains active as police gather more details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting. Residents are left in shock over the violent act, mourning the loss of a beloved coach and member of the community.
