Birmingham Police Secure Arrest Warrant in Shooting Incident
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department has announced that an arrest warrant has been issued in connection with a shooting that occurred on April 17, 2025, in East Birmingham. The incident took place in the 6400 block of Georgia Road, where a physical altercation between two adult males escalated to gunfire. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Micah Buchanan, is believed to have instigated the confrontation.
Both men were seriously injured during the incident, prompting an investigation by the Birmingham Police Felony Assault detectives. Following their inquiries, the case was presented to the Jefferson County Magistrate’s Office, which subsequently issued an attempted murder warrant against Buchanan, as well as a charge for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Currently, Buchanan is in police custody at a local hospital, receiving treatment for his injuries. Once stabilized, he is expected to be transferred to the Jefferson County Jail, where he will face a bond set at $76,000. This incident highlights growing concerns regarding violence in the community, as police continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
