Alabama Cross Country Teams Prepare for NCAA South Regional Championships
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 9/15 Alabama men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the NCAA South Regional Championships in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday, November 14. The event will take place at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park, with the women’s 6k race kicking off at 8:30 a.m. CT, followed by the men’s 10k race at 9:30 a.m. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
This marks the second time the Crimson Tide teams will run on the Huntsville course this season, having participated in the Southern Showcase earlier. The competition will see Alabama compete alongside several Southeastern Conference opponents, including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi State, among others. Additional teams from across the region will also join the fray.
The NCAA South Regional features nine Division I cross country regionals, each hosted by a school within their respective regions. The top two teams from each regional will secure automatic berths for the National Championships, while 13 additional teams can earn at-large bids. Additionally, the first four regional finishers not part of an auto-qualifying or at-large team will also receive auto-bids. Individual athletes can vie for two at-large bids announced later by the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee.
Alabama will aim for strong performances to qualify for nationals as they head into this crucial competition.
