Alabama Men’s Basketball Triumphs Over South Florida, 104-93
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 16 Alabama men’s basketball team secured a commanding victory over South Florida, winning 104-93 in a high-scoring affair at Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday night. This marks the fourth time this season the Crimson Tide has exceeded 100 points, moving their record to 8-3.
Labaron Philon Jr. led Alabama with a career-high-tying 29 points, while Aden Holloway added 24 points, contributing to a combined total of 53 points. Their performance underscored their ability to score in tandem, achieving 20-plus points each for the second time this season.
South Florida’s Izaiyah Nelson was a standout performer, notching 25 points and securing a double-double with 12 rebounds. Despite the loss, Nelson’s efforts highlighted the Bulls’ capability, who now sit at 6-5.
Head Coach Nate Oats praised his team’s effort, particularly in rebounding, but acknowledged areas needing improvement, especially their second-half performance where South Florida dominated the boards.
In the first half, Alabama led by as many as eight points but entered halftime with a narrow 46-39 advantage. The second half featured a decisive 17-4 run by Alabama, allowing them to maintain a lead and secure victory.
Alabama is set to face Kennesaw State in the Rocket City Classic on Sunday, with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
