No. 23 Tide Baseball Improves To 14-0 With Win Over No. 19 Troy
Alabama Baseball Triumphs Over Troy, Stays Undefeated
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The No. 23 Alabama baseball team continued its impressive start to the season, securing a 3-1 victory against No. 19 Troy on Wednesday night at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Alabama, which remains undefeated at 14-0, encountered initial adversity when Troy struck first in the third inning, scoring off a groundout after consecutive singles put runners in scoring position. However, the Crimson Tide quickly reclaimed the lead with a two-run homer by Justin Lebron, bringing Richie Bonomolo Jr. home in the same inning.
Alabama extended its lead in the sixth inning, with Will Hodo and Brennen Norton generating early momentum through singles. Hodo later scored on a well-placed fielder’s choice hit by catcher Brady Neal. Hodo notably led the Alabama offense with a 2-for-4 performance and maintained a streak of reaching base in all 14 games this season, alongside teammates Bonomolo Jr. and Jason Torres.
Pitcher JT Blackwood started strongly for Alabama, allowing just one run and five hits over four innings. Reliever Matthew Heiberger (1-0) showcased his skills with a career-high four innings, giving up only one hit and striking out three. Closer Carson Ozmer capped off the game with a perfect ninth inning, earning his fourth save. Head coach Rob Vaughn praised the team’s execution in tight games. Alabama is set to face Presbyterian College this Friday, concluding their non-conference slate.
