North Alabama’s ‘No Kings’ organizers anticipate big crowds, emphasize peace ahead of protests
Nationwide “No Kings” Protests Planned in North Alabama
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – As nationwide anti-Trump protests gear up, organizers in North Alabama are bracing for significant turnout while prioritizing peace. Thousands will participate in the “No Kings” protests, spearheaded by the 50501 group, coinciding with President Trump’s 79th birthday and the Army’s 250th anniversary. Six events are set across the region, including Huntsville, Florence, and Scottsboro.
In Huntsville, organizer Geoffrey Angle anticipates around 2,000 attendees at Butler Green Park, where a festival atmosphere will feature speakers, music, and activities to draw attention to their cause. The protests demand the impeachment of key federal figures and the withdrawal of military forces from Los Angeles.
Angle emphasizes a commitment to non-violence, stating, “We do not accept violence from protestors or counter-protestors.” In Scottsboro, a counter-protest is planned, with organizer Elizabeth Sharp preparing for potential conflicts. She and her team will employ de-escalation techniques and focus on maintaining a peaceful environment, influenced by previous negative interactions online.
Local law enforcement, including officers from Scottsboro and Huntsville, are aware of the protests and are on standby to prevent any disturbances. “This is not about division but about unity as humans,” asserts Sharp. The protests aim to foster community solidarity while encouraging peaceful assembly.
Protest times and locations are set for various cities, with local authorities expressing confidence in maintaining peace throughout the events.
