Northport Hosts Touch-a-Truck Saturday, Introducing Kids to Jobs
Touch-a-Truck Brings Career Exploration to Northport Kids
This Saturday, kids in West Alabama and the young at heart are invited to the annual Touch-a-Truck event at the Northport Civic Center & City Hall, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free, family-friendly event offers a hands-on opportunity for children to explore various career paths by interacting with the trucks and equipment used in different professions.
Attendees will discover an array of vehicles, including firetrucks, ambulances, police cruisers, and bucket trucks from Alabama Power, providing a tangible connection to the community’s workforce. City Administrator Glenda Webb emphasized the importance of this event, stating it allows citizens to meet local employees and learn about their careers and essential services.
In addition to exploring vehicles, families can enjoy a range of fun activities such as games, mascot appearances, treasure hunts in a giant sandbox, and train rides. Thanks to generous sponsors, the event will also offer complimentary refreshments, including hot dogs, chips, cotton candy, cookies, cold drinks, and snow cones.
The Touch-a-Truck event not only provides entertainment but also serves as an educational platform, connecting children with their community and potential future careers. For more news and events from West Alabama, stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread.
