Oxford Signing – Calhoun Journal
Oxford Football Stars Sign to Continue College Careers
In a proud moment for Oxford High School, four members of the Yellow Jackets’ football team solidified their plans to play at the collegiate level. The signing ceremony took place Thursday at the Champions Sports Complex, with running back/wide receiver D.K. Wilson and defensive back/kick returner Cedric Twyman committing to Harding University. Linebacker Desmond Whitson has signed with Clark-Atlanta University, while offensive lineman Markevion Conley will play at Mississippi Community Christian College.
The quartet, part of a team that achieved a 13-1 record, clinched the Class 6A, Region 13 title and advanced to the state semifinals. Wilson, who had an impressive season with over 1,000 receiving yards and multiple touchdowns, appreciated Harding’s welcoming environment. Twyman, who tallied 60 tackles during his senior year, felt drawn to Harding’s values. Whitson, recognized for his strong defensive play, chose Clark-Atlanta for its familial proximity and supportive atmosphere. Conley, who contributed to an offense that generated over 5,000 yards, believes Mississippi Community Christian College will enhance his skills and spiritual growth.
These young athletes have not only made significant strides in their football careers but also displayed strong character and values, paving the way for their futures in sports and academics.
